I fully agree. AI-generated pictures have no place here (Or really anywhere to be honest). This is a place to show genuine images of yourself. Why bother meeting up with someone if you're not willing to show the real you?
I'm seeing more and more AI-generated pics on here, and I find it concerning.
Setting aside the standard arguments against generative AI (artistic theft, power and water consumption, etc.), I don't think these kinds of pics have any place on a site like this, where we're posting photos of either ourselves or other real people who are into wrestling/fighting.
I find myself wishing the admins would consider imposing a ban on AI slop on this site, before it crowds out the real stuff.
I think its too late. The cat's already out of the proverbial bag so to speak and AI is the future, and is poised to become an integral part of all content creation. Trying to ban it at this point would be an exercise in futility and would likely result in more negative responses than pro.
The best that can be done at this point would be to try and require some form of "truth in lending" disclosure. That way, at least when it gets used, its clearly marked and not intended to deceive or confuse anyone.
I get what you're saying, but I don't agree. This site already has built-in systems to review pics, to ban certain kinds of pics, to classify pics according to nudity and sexual content, and to restrict what kind of pics can be a main profile picture. I don't see why these existing systems couldn't simply be used to ban AI-generated imagery.
