Today our team of unusually handsome and well trained developers have deployed an update to the Interest Groups pages. The goal was to update the design for a fresher look and feel, and make it more user-friendly. One feature that was requested by many was the ability to swipe between photos in the gallery, this is now available.

Recommendations have always been a part of our site. They serve many good purposes.

A good recommendation tells a story about you that you yourself couldn't tell. It helps others understand you better, and grounds your profile in a way your introduction cannot. You write in your introduction "I am really strong", and I'll think, "Okay sure". But seeing a bunch of your recommendations complimenting you on your strength? Now I know better what I might be getting into if I were to meet you.

Recommendations also help you remember a truly epic meeting, or maybe a less-than-epic one but still memorable in some way. Time capsules of your experiences, right there in your profile. Trust me, your 10-year-into-the-future self will thank you for them!

But let's face it: not all recommendations are created equal. Writing them can be hard (and reading even harder, I'm looking at you, person who never uses paragraphs and punctuation!!). Sometimes the insipration doesn't strike, or you feel you can just repeat everything that was already said and written before. We're not all born writers. You still want to give a recommendation because the other guy deserves it, but the words are not coming.

Enter "Compliments". Instead of writing a narrative text, you can choose from a set of compliments that capture the essence of your meeting. These compliments capture the basics of a simple recommendation that you might give after a wrestling meeting. To propose a few examples:

• "Very strong"
• "Great technique"
• "Incredible stamina"
• "Good sportsmanship"
• "Punctual and reliable"
• "Easy to communicate with"
• "Fun to be around"
• "Dominant"
• "Respectful and humble"

See what I mean? Pick two, maybe three compliments that best describe your meeting. It's easy to write, easier to read, and serves at least some bits of the purpose of a full recommendation. If you find compliments a bit impersonal, you can combine these with a full recommendation or a short personal note to give it extra flavor.

Hi Fighters around the world, but especially in Canada,

What a weekend! In case you haven’t heard (or are living under a rock), we absolutely took over! From July 23-26, nearly 300 of our fighters from over 12 countries took over Toronto’s gay village for WrestleFest Toronto 2026. Four days of wrestling, new connections, and sweaty fun. To say the event was a success would be an understatement:

✅The hotel completely sold out - with over 40 rooms filled with wrestlers 
✅Wrestlers completely took over Church Street, packing the local bars with singlets and sexy wrestling gear
✅Hanlan’s Point Beach was taken over by over 50 wrestlers in their speedos and sexy beach attire 
✅The community came together for over 20 hours of open mats, training, and wrestling & boxing fun

If you were there, you know that the vibes were, as described by a group of attendees, “legendary and pure magic”. If you missed out…well…let’s just say you'd better start packing your bags for next year.

BIGGER, BOLDER, AND MORE FUN THAN EVER 

This year’s programming pushed the limits of what our community is capable of when they put their heads together. The organizing team introduced several new events, including: 
🏖️The gay beach day, bringing over 50 wrestlers to Canada’s oldest queer space 
⭐13 live matches spread across 3 events - including XXX Wrestling at Steamworks and The Main Event - North America’s largest gay wrestling show to date. 
💦Oil and erotic wrestling giving wrestlers the chance to connect and explore ;)
🤼The official launch of Canada’s first regular queer-friendly grappling classes and Queer West Boxing Club

WE PARTIED HARD AND TRAINED HARDER

WrestleFest Toronto didn’t just take over the bars and clubs, attendees also turned local boxing and BJJ schools into queer spaces. The team offered over 20 hours of classes and open mats, with over 40 grapplers coming together for Canada’s largest queer grappling class to date! Boxers had their chance to glove up at Queer West Boxing Club, taking to the heavy bags and relaxing with a sauna and cold plunge after class.
