Another option is having trunks custom made; there a number of Asian based vendors on Ebay that will do this at a price comparable to used vintage trunks. You can get the exact size and style you want that way..I hate knee length trunks and prefer the classic short leg trunk so custom made makes sense for me. Most off the shelf trunks I've purchasesed have required a trip to the local tailor to get the legs shortened.

I can't recommend Zelaya Boxing enough. I've had 3 pair shortened and one custom made, and have been very happy with the results.

eBay is always a choice (it is pricey)
I work at a goodwill and I’ve seen some before and there not as expensive as eBay
Go to a boutique or a vintage type store.
I bought 3 vintage trunks because of these options. Good luck searching!
