Still looking for a training and technique drilling partner for Sat and?or Sunday evenings when my dojo does not have scheduled classes. Have mats and their is convenient and frequent 24/7 but service to within 2 short blocks of me. Wondering if the lack of response to previous posts is due age, something which at the dojo is a complete non issue. Thanks

Still wondering why not a single reply to this simple request?

It's because despite this group having 770 members, only two are local to you.

Many may not be local, but those who are not local may travel of have traveled to Las Vegas thus there should be more possibilities to practice but even among those who have bjj in their profile names seem to have an ageism issue. So unfortunate.

I'd avoid defaulting to ageism every time you're refused a private meet.

Vegas is a tourist destination. I'd imagine a lot who are visiting are going to have a very packed itinerary and if they are going to train BJJ it's going to be in their better interests to visit a club. Maybe you would see more success if you invited visitors to train at your club and then offer a session at your mats another day?

First of all, why would people put on their profiles that they are going to be in Las Vegas if they have no intention of meeting up? Second, in my original post I only mentioned wanting someone to practice with on Saturdays and Sundays when my dojo does not have evening sessions. I have invited members from here to the dojo (if they actually answer me) and open mats if they are open to all. I sometimes do wonder if some here would rather take their chances with the one armed bandits than go against me, though I clearly mentioned practicing techniques rather than hard rolling for safety and space reasons. It has never been about keeping score as this request does not refer to tournament competition. Hope this clarifies any unintentional misunderstandings. It is also amusing that when I mention ageism and some deny it, the denial comes from those much younger who have never been refused again and again or how it might affect the person being constantly ignored and denied. Thanks for understanding.

So your club does have morning classes on Saturday then? Perfect! Invite them to train at your club first to get the competitive rolls they crave then invite them over to yours for the flow roll and practice side of it - all in the same day.

Playing devil's advocate, although I'm not speaking for all people here who practice BJJ but if I'm visiting another state / country and want to do BJJ I'm going to want to try my competitive game against as many new people as possible, learn as much as I can against others' games.

Finally I'm not saying that nobody here is ageist but if you're accusing everyone younger than you of it every time you are rejected, and openly blanket accusing everyone on forums like this, people are going to start to think "why bother?".

My body is used to evening classes. There is an open mat in the morning on the first day of the week Sunday, but my body cycle does not adjust to that time slot well.

Still looking for a technique practice partner on days when there are no evening classes at the dojo. Just looking to drill, practice techniwues, and perhaps flo roll, leaving the hard rolling to the safety of the dojo. Have mats and there is 24/7 bus service to within two short blocks of me.

Due to GWB and his cronies my financial situation has been poor since 2008 thus cannot afford private lessons, tourneys, etc. It is a struggle to pay my monthly BJJ gym membership and the transit passes to get there. I am in need of a practice partner to improve technique at non gym hours here in Las Vegas. I am currently a blue belt (since 8/31/11) and do both gi and no-gi, greatly preferring the latter though I do mainly gi at the dojo due their schedule at the branch closes to me. If anyone has their own mats in this area (Lost Wages, Nevada) and could practice at hours the dojo may be closed this would be a big plus. As a 68.5 senior I do have some medical issues limiting my flexibility (hip replacement, etc) . I am hoping that those in this BJJ group due not show the ageism I encounter from many on this site.. Those at the dojo harbor no prejudice thus I am at a loss why I find so much age bigotry on this site. Thus is anyone lives in Las Vegas, has access to mats at non gym hours, and wants to practice techniques please feel to PM me or post on this thread. Thanks
