When I know I'm about to be punched, I have the ability to stay calm, but generally I keep my eyes open and know I'm about to be punched. In the past, I've been punched unexpectedly, and the sensations have varied. Sometimes it was pleasant because the punches were well-placed and my stomach was hit squarely with a well-placed thrust. Other times, however, it was unpleasant because, in the sudden rush of throwing a punch, the punch was poorly placed and it didn't hit my stomach at all, but rather a completely different area, which caused me a pain that wasn't exciting.
I'd hit you really hard, right in the pit of your stomach... unexpectedly. I'd catch you off guard, and the punch would sink deep into your soft stomach. You'd definitely fall to your knees, breathless.
I think this is kind of one of my biggest fears due to its prevalence in films and television. How two people can be at loggerheads, and one of them finally kicks off, belting the other one in the gut and leaving them doubled over and sucking air. Completely unexpected. Hard to block or dodge due to the lack of space. A shock in more ways than one.
Like yeah, I have this kink, obviously. But I also care for the safety of my intestines. And my pride. I'd like to think I'd be partially tensed up in a scenario like this, just on the off chance it might ever happen. Would love to see the look on their face when I just stand there and tell them, 'That's assault; I'm calling the police.'
