I've not yet done a serious gut punching scene. But I feel like the main thing is make sure I can't flinch away - because I know myself well enough that I *would* flinch. So get me against a wall or a turnbuckle or something, or pin me flat on the ground, that kind of thing. Or if it's 2v1 then one person holds me and the other punches is a classic.
Yes, totally agree, being held by a taller guy in a full Nelson was great while my gut was pounded on by a shorter but muscular guy. Man that was such a blast. They took turns holding and pounding me.
Actually any position that has the abs open to be tested. Behind the back, on ones head, stretched out on a bar, hanging over an object, leaning against a wall or doing a double bicep, all positions are great to test the strength and endurance of one’s abs.
how do you like to present yourself to take a gut punching
a) hands tied behind your back
b) hands tied above you hanging from a rope
c) hands free for your to protect yourself
Option "a" is the one I like. That option has other similar variations. For example, one strong guy could hold my arms behind my back, and the other could punch me in the stomach as he pleases. I also had to stand with my arms tied behind a column, pillar, or tree, my soft stomach defenseless and at the mercy of the beater.
I think option A would actually make your abs a bit firmer, and in a fair contest, that would be seen as cheating. Option B would stretch you out, which would also be cheating. Option C would make for a boring contest. And would be cheating.
So in a fair contest, I'd be stood in the middle of the room or field with my hands at my sides. Or to make it a little less fair for me but more fair to the puncher, I'd be stood with my back against a wall or a tree.
Now, if my goal is to be utterly destroyed (not just softened up a little), I'd opt for option B. There are few things better than to be strung up and worked on like a side of beef in the back of an industrial freezer, tightening abs you've worked so hard for but in vain, getting the breath beaten out of you with every punch.

The classic full Nelson brace while the puncher goes after your completely unprotected mid-section.
Of course the bracer has to be your size of bigger. Otherwise, you'd just continue to shift with him holding on for the ride. Pretty funny actually.
