I think your pretty spot on, asconian. I do think your chances of being injured go way down wrestling experienced guys who know their way around the mat. They can move you, can position you kind of fluidly with one hold kind of rolling into another. Because they are usually in no hurry to submit you, they have nothing to prove, so they tend start easy and read the situation before kinda cranking it up.
On the other hand, less experienced guys might apply holds incorrectly or too aggressively in ways that could see someone get hurt. Best to talk it out prior so both parties are clear with expectations.
What do you prefer?. In my opinion much stronger opponents, bring less injuries and smoother bouts. They usually wrestle well, and if you accept you won’t defeat them, and they respect your limits, you get a better wrestling experience. And learn a lot.
Rookies or balanced opponents turn things into a bloodly competitive stuff of domination pushing limits in which both can’t control injuries.
Does it sound reasonable?. What’s your experience?
Weaker is my norm so I guess you could say I've had my fill. However, my ideal would someone of equal strength – since that would create the most excitement due to not knowing who will be the victor. But since that wasn't a choice, that leaves me with stronger.
I've wrestled stronger guys before, but they all lacked conditioning. When that's the case, I just hold on until they tire, and the pin comes pretty easy.

It actually happens at my NoGi lessons. Tough guys. Smooth and affective in just one move.

5/11/2025 5:20 AMDepends what you want no? I'm a rookie so that sounds familiar - very frustrating. Wouldn't mind either really.

At least learning something at the same time with experienced wrestlers.

Yeah. Good strategy. Hold on and avoid until exhausted. I love it. I use too much force, even when I don’t have any chance.
