The pre-fight gitters
So Wrestlefest in Toronto starts in less that 2 weeks. Thats 7 working shifts for me and then I'll be heading to Toronto for some sun and matches. I've got my schedule done and it'll be a very busy 4 days and Im staying an extra day aswell. This will be my first one and maybe my only one as work has prevented me from going before.
TranslateAs we get closer tho, Im finding myself more nervous and anxious about it all. Ive only gotten onto the site a few years and and didnt know other guys were into wrestling like I am. I'll be travelling alone which is fine cause I normally travel alone anyway but have never been to anything like this before. Most of my traveling is because of festivals/ concerts.
No one in my life knows Im into this. I keep it on the down low so alot of my friends are wondering why Im going for days when theres no concert I wanna attend.
So thats been an interesting convos haha. Not that I think they would care but definitely nothing something they'd expect. Going to the events should be interesting. I'm definitely not a party-er but can break out some moves on the dancefloor if the beer is feeling good.
Any other first time attenders feeling this way? I think once I get there and am surrounded by my fellow wrestlers, it'll be great tho.

7/10/2026 11:45 PMDude,
You overcame the BIGGEST obstacle.................you're going!
What's that ancient proverb? – "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." So, you're committed (or should be "committed" – lol – since you wrestle like we all do); now, get on the plane and have fun!
Will it be life-changing? Probably not, but could be.
Will it be a good time? Probably so if you let it.
Go ahead and arrange matches and see what happens. Go up to some opponent and ask him, "Wanna wrestle?'
What's the worst that can happen? He says "No." And the sun will come up tomorrow (thanks, Annie!) And there will be another opponent to take on. And the world goes on.
Yeah, you'll discover the picky opponent(s) who are cliquey and won't wrestle you because you don't have the perfect bod, the perfect hair, the perfect teeth, the right blood type, etc. Fuck 'em!! (figuratively, not literally). There's always some body else.
In the "real" world, it's hard to spot a fellow enthusiast. These meets bring together those of us who share a common interest. So, make it a goal to challenge every attendee and separate the chaff from the wheat!
Have a great time!

7/11/2026 12:01 AMGood for you, man. It’s what you make of it.
I didn’t overdo things (at least by my standard). That meant 12 to 13 quality matches over the span of a few days. Also did a little sightseeing and caught up with local friends. It’s also good to be flexible in case other things align.

7/11/2026 4:21 AMI have a feeling a lot of other guys are in the same boat as you, feeling that way. And haha, what have you been telling your friends about why you're going to Toronto? I made a meme about that for WFNYC a while back.

7/11/2026 11:17 PMHey Protactic - No reason to be anxious or nervous. I know from our match that you are an awesome, skilled wrestler and a fun, genuine individual. Toronto WrestleFest is lucky to have you this year!
I was in your shoes exactly one year ago, about to join my first WrestleFest and it was a blast. It was also the door that opened many opportunities to meet great wrestlers from all over the world. Wish you a lot of fun! See you in Toronto during the fest in 2 weeks!

7/13/2026 12:06 AMI could have written this "The pre-fight gitters" blog myself! It's exactly what has been going through my mind. It will be my first "Fest" and - - since I'm also mainly a solo traveler - - the number of attendees and events is a little overwhelming. Helps to know that having the gitters is OK. Thanks! Wrestle on!
