COWBOYS FIGHT
The Sheffield Ranch stretched as far as the eye could see, a land of hard men and wild horses. Among all the cowboys who worked there, Travis and Harris were the most feared.
Young, muscular, and aggressive, each was determined to prove he was the toughest. Two wolves in the same pack.
Their arguments always turned into fights. Their hatred grew like an approaching storm.
Until one day, after a particularly brutal confrontation in the barn, it became clear that there was only one way to settle it.
With their fists.
Like real men of the Old West.
“Tomorrow. At sunrise. In the clearing behind the ranch. No witnesses. No weapons. Just the two of us.”
Harris spat on the ground and nodded.
“It’ll be my pleasure, boy.”
The Storm at Sunrise
Morning arrived beneath a gray sky heavy with electricity.
It was raining.
The water pounded the hard earth, turning it into thick mud. Travis and Harris met in the clearing, their shirts hanging open, their bodies ready for battle.
There were no words.
No ceremony.
Only fists.
Travis struck first, his fist crashing into Harris’s jaw. The impact echoed like thunder. Harris staggered back, spat blood, and grinned.
“Is that all you’ve got?”
Then he charged.
Fury and Mud
The collision of their bodies shook the ground. Punches flew, muscles strained, and blood mixed with the rain.
Travis doubled Harris over with a savage hook to the stomach, but Harris grabbed him by the shirt and dragged him down into the mud.
They rolled across the ground, two beasts fighting for dominance. Every punch left bruises and blood. Every charge tore another piece from their clothing. Mud covered their bodies, but the fight never slowed.
Harris managed to straddle Travis and slammed his fist into his face once… twice… three times.
Travis growled and summoned every ounce of strength to roll them over. Now on top, he rained down furious punches. But Harris refused to stay down.
Both men gasped for breath, their blood blending with the rainwater. Their fists had lost their power, yet they kept throwing them.
One would fall, and the other would haul him back to his feet just to keep fighting.
Time itself seemed to disappear.
There was nothing left but the two of them—two rivals with nothing left to lose.
Until, without either of them realizing it, their fists stopped.
They looked at one another, their bodies exhausted, their pride unbroken. Then, suddenly, Travis burst into laughter.
Harris stared at him in surprise…
…and laughed with him.
The two men collapsed onto the muddy ground, gazing up at the gray sky.
There was no winner. But there was no loser, either.
There were only two men who finally understood one another. That morning, beneath the rain, in the mud of Sheffield Ranch, an old rivalry died…
…and a brotherhood of steel was born.

Are they going to have a gunfight? No, each man removes his holster and his shirt. They will settle it with their fists like men who deep down, have a feeling of comradery with the other. I like the ending and it could open up into a series of the two becoming friends, and maybe even a tag team of sorts! Deano

Actually it was my second story. At that time they were not as complex as the ones I write now. But you are absolutely right. I should have gone deeper into the story. Thanks for the comment.
