Dear Robertwoldridge! I don't think you were disrespectful either. It was a natural request; you were honest and respectful in wanting to discuss this beforehand. My friends and I take turns playing the HEEL/JOBBER roles during our friendly wrestling matches. In our group, the stronger partner sometimes lets the weaker one dominate them.
Empathy and intelligence. Things your conversation partner lacks. Don’t be sorry that you won’t be meeting in person.
Personally although I agree with comments stressing the importance of talking about expectations BEFORE a match I've always felt it really ignorant for guys to simply disappear and block someone with no explanation. I find that type of action pretty fuckin thin skinned.
Is it possible there was there a language difference/miscommunication? Sometimes that can cause big misunderstandings if the nuance of what you meant was being missed.
Well given that he has seemingly disappeared on you with no explanation I guess you'll never know and this is exactly what I'm talking about. So if you'd mentioned something really off in your convo with this guy all he had to do was explain that he wasn't in to that or that perhaps a match with him wouldn't be a good fit. Instead he just cuts you off at the knees and blocks you. Just fuckin stupid if you ask me.
I have a question about etiquette. I recently started talking with someone who identified himself as a jobber. I was comfortable with everything he wanted to do but indicated that sometimes I like to be the one to lose and asked if sometimes we could switch off who wins and who loses. Immediately he blocked me.
For future reference, is that a faux pas to say that you like to be the jobber sometimes as well?
Not at all. Much better to be clear in your communications with other wrestlers as to what does and doesn't work for you. Obviously you wanting to switch sometimes didn't work for this guy, but it will for other jobbers.

I agree. It wasn’t a big deal, we barely spoke but I was wondering if I had committed some faux pas.
