Had the pleasure of meeting Equilibrium this morning for a match. I ran a bit late due to morning traffic and not being a morning person, but he was very kind and understanding. On the mats he was a lot of fun to roll with and we had fun practicing moves with one another. I highly recommend him and can’t wait until we’re able to meet up again.

Apollo is a really nice funny guy, we had a great time together and it was really fun. If he is in your area you have to meet him :)
Laluchador2021 is recommended by Equilibrium (6/28/2024)
I had a lot of fun rolling with Laluchador2021. He is clearly skilled at grappling and showed a lot of strength but also great self control. I felt safe rolling with him in our back and forth match and had a great time. He is very nice and polite and was a pleasure to meet and wrestle with. I highly recommend him and look forward to seeing him again.
Younggun is recommended by nowheretogo (6/28/2024)
I met Younggun in a match together with Joboisi. He’s extremely strong, his pictures of his muscles don’t lie. So I was mostly trying to avoid being caught by his thick arms and legs, but without too much success. But he’s a great guy and makes it fun and enjoyable, even when one is helplessly stuck in his grip. And he certainly enjoys being in charge as well, hehe. Hope to meet him again for another match and some more beers.

Joboisi, whom I met in a hotel room battle with Younggun, is a very strong and trained grappler. Couldn’t do much (= anything) against his muscles and experience really. Thankfully he didn’t just steamroll over me, but took what he announced as a "slow approach", so I could at least try to get him in a hold here and there, before he wiggled out and made me tap once again. He’s in a good and fun mood all along, and I hope to meet him again with some more space next time.

Phillychiwrestle and I did a submission wrestling match, we had to pivot at the last second for a place to wrestle cuz everywhere was booked, so we found a place to wrestle in, we’ve been talking for over a year, and I’m so glad that I got to wrestle him. He’s a scrappy guy and he’s got tons of heart, I seriously can’t wait to wrestle him as well 💪💪💪

Scott is my dearest friend. We have spent months getting to know one another, anticipating our first fight. When I finally managed to make it to him, he didn’t disappoint.
We fought three times over five days. In order to do justice to the battles, and to the skill and approach of my dear friend and opponent, I’ll add two more entries to our fight history, focusing here on our first match, day one:
Within moments of getting in the door, we were in our trunks and on his mats. He has a nice wrestling area, and has thoughtfully done what he can to make the SC heat manageable. Our first collision was that of two freight trains. I’ve never had an opponent hit me with such force. He is as intense as you want, and we both wanted everything we had. Most lockups involved him bowling me over with an effective combination of speed and force. I quickly accepted I won’t beat him to the first move, and started focusing on counters/escapes. Our match was back and forth, with both taking a couple of submissions. The heat insured that within twenty minutes, we were slipping off of one another, unable to secure holds and sliding across the mats, sometimes having to reset from sliding completely off. His stamina started to come into play, as I wore down faster. The sweat also increased the risk; a keylock accidentally slid beyond where either of us wanted it to and hurt my arm a bit. As soon as I tapped, Scott was looking out for me, with suggestions and advice to ease the pain, never pushing me for more action. At my request, we continued for a few submissions but I then had to stop because of my arm. I controlled the early part of the exchange to come out slightly ahead, but I know full well and have so much respect for his stamina to know that had we continued, he would have evened the score and probably gone ahead.
I’ve never ached as I did after facing Scott, but I also felt proud to keep up with him. It was a true honor to face him.
Before the second match, Scott gave me a ride to the store so that I could pick up two elbow braces: one for the injury from our first match, and the other because I moronically pulled a muscle during some roughhousing we did the next day. Always stretch, fellas…even before nonsense.
Match 2 against Scott was not as even as the first, as his hamstring was bothering him. I also know he was thinking about my bad arm, and might not have been able to get his head in the match as much as usual for fear of me getting further hurt. This, combined with the adrenaline from knowing my arm wasn’t at 100% but wanting to give my best friend a good fight, allowed me to counter his rushes and secure some submissions. Because he couldn’t hit me with as much force as in the first match, I could deflect and work on controlling him. After a few subs I could see his frustration but he NEVER quit. The match continued, and my left arm started giving me more problems than I had experienced with my right arm. By midway through the match, I was really hurting, struggling to effectively use it for anything beyond balance.
Unfortunately it brought the match to a preemptive close. Scott saw me hurting but, despite being down in submissions, didn’t push for us to continue. After a fairly decent rest, I asked to try for one more round. At the end of it I was nearly trying to submit him with one arm, as that was all I could muster. He of course was perfectly fine to stop, even though I know he could have continued for hours.
Because of the tally, the match went to me, but again: if Scott were a lessor competitor, he could have insisted we keep going, come back, and eventually gotten ahead. He didn’t do that, because he’s a good fighter who wants his opponent to be at their best. He is never out to capitalize on an opponent’s injury.
He is an amazing strong combatant, and a wonderfully fair competitor.
Match 3 - two best friends finding their way back.
We merely planned to warm up for some silly photos. Scott has a pair of Union Jack trunks, so I bought a pair of American Flag trunks to “properly” face off, with respective “pride” on the line. In other words, this was initially about having a laugh.
Lots of slow, competitive struggles and tests of strength. Traded top position and worked to secure limbs/practice submissions. I rolled him to a scissor and worked on a choke, but didn’t fully tighten it. Instead, I kept him in place while he worked to escape. He escaped a near Kimora; I remember proudly growling “nice, Scott.” That happened a lot.
Smiling, talking, laughing throughout. I jokingly flexed over him, let him do the same (it was only fair), and it was turned into a headscissor, which I wouldn’t give to, followed by a really tight one that had me tapping in moments.
More methodical than anything earlier in the week, but still intense. We worked with each other, allowing time in holds to build our skills. Both wanted to be in control, but by going a little easier, we worked through exchanges rather than yank the other into submission. I’m overwhelmed by the amount of bonding. We still tried to dominate, but unlike the earlier wars, this was us enjoying the grapple and helping each other to become better wrestlers, though we both knew doing so would only make our future bouts even tougher.
Scott took this one. He won most of the submissions and at one point got me in a headscissor that caused me to briefly see stars. What I remember most is how we were in it as competitors and friends. It was a wonderful way to finish our wrestling week. I look forward to our future intense fights, but we’ve now found something to supplement to give us more time to appreciate both the sport and one another, and not come out of it quite so banged up and sore.
And like everything with my dearest friend, we did it together.
