Yes ageism is sad and inappropriate but we have to take into account preferences guys on here have if they want to wrestle their age or younger, it even extends to body shape and skill level, I know as I have experienced it all. What's important is it's explained without malice as often we are just ignored. Wrestling an older guy has its plus points - their experience, their stories, their strength and some are fit looking dudes just greyer.
I will never understand the ageism here. There can be many reasons not to meet up, but ageism should not be one of them. I go, train and roll at a local dojo up to 5 days a week. 34/7 bus service on many routes makes this easy. No one there has an age problem.
A good part of "ageism" is due to the public education system that segregates children early in life by age, to make the teaching easier but a side-effect is making it hard for students to relate to anyone besides their peers. A second factor is American marketing which focuses on age, race and interests. Deano
