Why do people get blocked?

I never find it nice when people decide to block others. I've always been polite to tell the truth.

The other day someone, won't mention who, said hi, how are you? All I said was I could no longer wrestle and was blocked immediately.

I'm always still up for friendship and talking, that's one person's loss.

Their loss. You profile is very clear about what you’re looking for and current wrestling status.

People get blocked for all kinds of reasons, many perfectly legitimate. In my case I'm most likely to block someone who repeatedly messages me (or needs to obsessively look at my profile every time I sign on) after I've stated I was not interested multiple times.... or who has to go on a rant any time they encounter an opinion they don't like. Some just repeatedly act obnoxious in or have a need to constantly try and dominate the chatroom because they have an inflated sense of self-worth and are desperate for attention and validation. I am sure every single one would claim they did nothing wrong and they were blocked for "no reason".

In the case you mentioned the person was clearly not interested in chatting with someone who couldn't do what he wanted, but it does seem pointless and excessive to do it when he was the one who messaged you initially and you just gave an honest answer. He could have just said, "Oh ok. Sorry, not interested then."... but maybe he was just trying to make sure he didn't message you again. (I have heard some people claim they do it to remove their own temptations).

There just seems no benefit to you to worry about it since at the end of the day it doesn't really impact either one of you.

I agree - try and minimize very limited time I have daily - even just to look at the site … and ask politely who I am looking to wrestle ( size weight etc ) and style . But I still get messages asking to wrestle. A few when I politely declined - they blocked me. No big deal. Worse was recent encounter with individual in Pennsylvania county where I have a retreat property who for two years try to get me to wrestle , finally decided to give the guy a chance last spring, and discovered one embellishment after another regarding the individual. I had wrestled him once and was not great, but I was not ugly to him. He hounded me for a recommendation so I left a recommendation without being ugly. As I discovered more embellishments agreeing to meet the guy at the gym for some workouts, I realized he ran a certain type of wrestling style in the ground, then turned around in four days later went four hours away and wrestled a friend of mine who only does the style. He then left a glowing recommendation for the guy. I spoke to my friend four hours away, and he said the wrestling was not good. I didn’t realize this individual who lives in my county tries to stock his profile with large number of opponents and gives out recommendations only for the purpose of receiving a good one in return. I decided to remove my recommendation for him. He got mad and sent me two ugly text messages with false information and proceeded to block me. I had no intention of pursuing any further contact with the individual who is just not a high-quality individual. However, I do wish there was a way for profiles to let other profiles know of bad actors or players.

Blocking is a real difficult one.
Recently someone I met before blocked me. No idea why and it hurts. You don’t get their rationale and therefore it leaves you with some unanswered questions. It functions as a form of ghosting, and there is a lot of literature online about the impact that has.

However, I myself blocked someone I used to get on well with. The reason being is that I had been trying to get a meet with them for ages and each time there was a different reason for why they couldn’t do it. I drew the conclusion that I was wasting my time and therefore decided to end any future communication.

I wouldn't take it personally.

People block others because:
-this prevents accidental future contact with the profile, esp if they've forgotten why there was incompatibility
-they are tired of hearing from them / don't want future communication
-it prevents them from leaving a negative review (which is frequently abused as a form of petty vengeance)
-it prevents profile stalking

Blocking can hurt. No doubt about this. Even if one is manifestly not to blame (e.g. my local boy who failed to turn up when I'd booked and paid for our two hotel rooms ... I asked why he hadn't turned up ... and got blocked) it can be hard.

One tries to "move on" ... but, honestly, it's never easy.

To be honest, I don't now really remember his name. Kevin something?? Based in East Sussex. If this rings any bells, watch out!

Edward

Kevin? He was/is Kev ... with a number, I think.

This person is NOT reliable.

Same thing happened to me, because I didn't reply fast enough (I have a life away from this site) when I went to reply noticed I was blocked. I don't get it, he was quite local to me to so we would of probably ended off meeting in the future 🤷

I've never blocked anyone - there's always the option to simply ignore their attempts to contact you.

I've been blocked by at least three people–and the thing is, I only know for sure why one of them did it. It's a little surprising.

I wouldn’t let it bother you too much. I got blocked by a local guy after giving him my number for WhatsApp. Would have wrestled but his loss.

I block someone when he is insulting me, harassing me, projecting a fetish onto me or trying to talk me down/disrespect me in some way. Also when I'm extremely interested in meeting someone specific with no possibility to actually meet them. I just don't wanna see those profiles all the time.
