Recommendations

I had been communicating with Yinyang for some time as we were trying to set-up a match, but our schedules didn't coincide until we finally met in the Open Mats event during the 2025 Toronto Winter Rumble. I have great admiration for this wrestler since he has done and continues to do multiple martial arts, including Kung Fu which I love and did myself years ago.

This fighter portrays a strong sense of self-confidence and has a direct approach to communicate and act, which I respect. I enjoyed the short roll that I had with this fighter because he has incredible reflexes, agility and speed. When I had him pinned, I could sense his flexibility trying to escape. It is true that I did not complete the submission when I had him on mount, but I will not be that nice next time ;) . There will be a next time for sure.

If you want to fight a real Belgian Tintin (he really looks like Tintin, lol), Harris bxl is the perfect opponent. Harris bxl has only been on this site for 1 year and all the recommendations show how good a fighter he is. He runs, he swims, he works out and he is keen on learning more grappling skills. Everything shows that he is a super sporty guy with impeccable stamina and strengths.

The chat to organize our match and to get to know him was fantastic. He is a very sincere, honest, and also quite open to many topics. You feel like that you could literally talk about everything with him. When he said he would visit Bologna, I was really happy but also nervous about it. But again, he used his calmness and solved it easily.

Due to the delay of the train (so normal in Italy, hehe) it was already a bit late. So in order to save our precious time, we immediately started fighting after he arrived in my apartment. Wow, you can feel his power right away. This guy is fierce and knows what he was doing on the mats and his sweat made it even harder to grab him.

And the next day, when I woke up, my whole body was aching. But we hit the mat and started our rematch before 7:30am (I think it was one of my earliest fights.) Knowing there is a 10kg weight gap between us, he was definitely a safe person to roll with. And once again, wonderful rolling before breakfast and also we did a bit more before he left after lunch.

As usual, we walked around the city and enjoyed Chinese and Italian food and gelato, talking about our passion. It was completely an unforgettable experience with him. I can totally foresee that in the near future, a strong rising star will be shining. Thank you, my friend!!!

The Wrestler:

Whoever says that nice and tough cannot coexist, Versus is the fighter and the person who proves that this is possible. This man is funny, kind, strong, skilled, dependable and smart. Aren't those some of the important characteristics of a person who most of us would want to call a 'friend'? And Canada is the winner because this fighter has decided to make Toronto his home. On the mats, this guy is tough as nails, a wall of muscle who knows his technical grappling stuff and who has more than 14 years of experience wrestling in MF despite his young age. Because this man is a globetrotter, he has wrestled all over the world and picked up really fun moves that he demonstrated on me, and I enjoyed them. If you are coming to Toronto and want to have a challenging, fun match you have to hit Versus and book a match with him. Absolutely recommended.

The Match:

I don't think I stopped smiling the entire time while I was wrestling Versus, partly because I was trying in a futile way to move this mountain of muscle and partly because Versus kept switching the flow, positions and holds to make the match interesting and dynamic. Despite his advanced wrestling skills, Versus never tried to show off or prove himself as the dominant fighter even if he made me tap a few times. He graciously let me try things and it felt like solving a puzzle. I could see that I was not the only one enjoying the match, because Versus kept a genuine and kind smile on his face while he remained in control of his superior strength and skills to avoid hurting me and to keep the match safe. From beginning to end, my fight with Versus was pleasant and enjoyable and I hope to hold many more matches with him in the future.

After years of trying to setup a match, was glad we could finally make it work out. dcnewfighter7 is that perfect mix of incredibly strong, skilled, safe and playful wrestler. He definitely knows how to lock on a hold, dial up the pressure and have both leave the mat having a good time. Looking forward to a rematch one of these days.

The rolling with LuchadorChinito was only part of the experience because the conversations before, during, and after our match were just as memorable. Very early on, it became clear that we share some similar doubts, questions and insecurities. The interesting part was discovering how differently we handle them: he approaches things with emotion, while I tend to rely more on analysis. That contrast made our conversations surprisingly enriching.

As a host he was fantastic: he showed me around Bologna, took me to great restaurants and somehow made sure I never had to worry about a single practical detail. And for the record: if I’m really “Tintin”, as he wrote in his own recommendation… then he did a very good job proving he’s not the kind of villain I can defeat in one chapter

On the mats his passion shows in everything he does. He loves exploring different styles, switching pace, trying techniques and we ended up doing quite a few rounds. His weight is probably his biggest disadvantage in grappling, but he compensates with creativity, determination, and a constant awareness of how his opponent feels and reacts. He’s fun to roll with, attentive, and unique in the way he approaches this.

Meeting him was enjoyable and meaningful. After spending time with him (talking, walking and rolling), it became clear to me that the parts he doubts most about himself are often the things that make him unique. I hope he’ll one day be able to see himself with the same appreciation I had for him during our time together.

Ohhh.... Finalmente dopo tanto tempo sono riuscito ad incontrare "lotta t" approfittando di una sua vacanza dalle mie parti. Che dire... Avversario con un fisico imponente come si evince dalle sue statistiche. Molto forte di braccia (mi ha battuto a braccio di ferro) ma nella lotta sono riuscito ad avere la meglio.... Comunque molta resistenza da parte sua. Persona cordiale e simpatica.... E di compagnia, come ho potuto constatare nella cena Post match. Consigliatissimo per chi cerca un match tranquillo e divertente con una persona a modo! Speriamo di incontrarci ancora.

Finally had our long awaited match & it lived up to the expectations. Gambit was cool on & off the mats. The talking did match the skill. It was a great vibe & a fun match to have.

The Wrestler:

Rebelwrest is a strong technical wrestler that despite having a size and weight advantage on me, was very careful throughout our match to ensure that we had a safe roll. Rebelwrest is also a great teacher: He showed me a few moves and let me practice on him. He made me sweat profusely trying to overcome his strength as he put me in tough holds to escape. I could tell that he was measuring his strength and adjusting his skills to mine, which I am grateful for because we had a good flow without me feeling squashed but rather motivated to keep going. He was a very nice host who had a fantastic mat set-up in his hotel room that he drove across the border. On top of this, he has many facets as an individual off the mats, and you will have fun discovering them through his amicable conversation. He has my full recommendation.

The Match:

I had a déjà vu moment wrestling with Rebelwrest because 40 mins after we started our match, the fire alarm in his hotel went off. This happened to me during the summer WrestleFest in the same hotel in Toronto. Was this another “saved by the bell moment?” (Read my reco for MKEWrestlebear). Maybe, but before we got to that point, I had an amazing sweaty workout fending off Rebel’s attacks and learning some BJJ moves from this experienced fighter. Given the fire alarm, we didn’t get to do pro style wrestling, which I wanted to try with Rebel, but this means that we will have to meet again!

Had an amazing match with RNC23! Don’t be fooled—he’s way stronger than he looks. His legs are lethal, and he’s incredibly fast and skilled. I’m grateful he managed to squeeze in our match at the last minute. If you ever get the chance, you have to meet up with him. Super friendly and just an awesome guy.
