I'm happy that Damly took the time to join us at our regular open mat session.

Damly enjoys rolling for the fun of it, maintaining a lighthearted approach without sacrificing the intensity of the match. We had a light roll, enjoying the atmosphere of the open mat and simply having a great time.

Additionally, Damly joined us for dinner the night before. Although we weren't seated together and didn't get much of an opportunity to converse, we shared a memorable moment rushing to catch his train back to Brussels. :D

Had the opportunity to roll with this guy at an open mat event!
He is strong, and has good technique.

Despite my 10 kg weight advantage , we were a good match i think.

Outside the mat a kind personality and woud like to roll again.

Originally, one of the major goals when attending an Open Mat event with single rounds is to fight many different opponents. But instead, this guy kept me busy for an entire period of 45 minutes! And the result of it? Not a single submission at all from either side. Even when we had two other kinds of private matches afterwards, both ended in a draw. And the struggle still continued while I was writing this recommendation. Because it's quite difficult to cast into words my impressions from this handsome, polite and charming guy (who has a nice athletic body by the way).

We were already chatting for some time, and the similar experiences we had made when starting BJJ, our shared interests, and the nearly identical weight promised an intriguing encounter. When realizing that we both will join the BJJ ALL-INC Open Mat in Mechelen, he immediately helped me to arrange an overnight stay. So we had the chance to meet off the mat as well. Thank you so much for this great and memorable time!

However, I guess our rematch is going to become an epic battle as we both will prepare hard to make each other submit this time. Let's bring it on! I'm already waiting for it! Full score for Matwix! Don't hesitate to meet him!!!

Probably my most entertaining rolling so far. Bamm-Bamm is a skilled grappler with a very impressing body who could perfectly adapt to my weight and level (thank you so much for not knee-on-belly-me ;-P), and last but not least a really great guy off the mats as well. In some way his knee problems seemed to be contagious hahaha, as I had to skip our rematch the next day - due to knee problems. Hopefully not for long. Looking forward to meet you again mate! Don't miss that guy!!!

From our first meet in London I witnessed GrapplingHB's impenetrable defense but up to that point he was obviously letting me work to ultimately fall into his defensive trap.

Then the group meet in Mechelen arrived and the training wheels definitely went off in the first 30 seconds as he showcased his equally impressive attack effortlessly getting a pec crusher / head and arm choke hybrid... ...thing. 😂

How naïve I was! Both rolls with GrapplingHB have been so much fun, looking forwards to the next time!

Definitely recommended for a challenging roll (if you want it) and a very knowledgeable opponent who's one of the nicest outside of the match.

We had a short but really great encounter on the Open Mat in Mechelen. I hope it was just the overture to an even greater rematch next time. Trapdoor is a very good grappler and a marvelous guy. Don’t miss him!

Met and rolled with GuidingLight towards the end of the Open Mat event at Mechelen. I say near the end because by then, we should be exhausted (and I'm sure we were) but fought hard in the short match we had with many position changes! Enjoyable match starts to finish and definitely up for a longer one for the next time - friendly fellow too!

A great end of event roll and overall meet with Matwix!
Like with GuidingLight, our match was towards the end of the event (the very last round in fact 😉) and of course the rolls at the end are always more intense! Plenty of back and forth with a standing start, so competition rules 😜. We were trying, we were really trying, but no subs either way, very strong and very technical, we kept each other at bay and got some fancy sweeps in!

We had actually met the night before for the group meet, and as you'd expect was great company, if only he wouldn't criticise the rate at which I drink, haha.

Can't wait for the next one been a fantastic time both on and off the mats, and I'm sure we will, and if you can, don't hesitate, you won't regret it! Cheers and see you next time!

Already for some months Matwix and I were trying to find a common date for our first meeting. So I was very glad that he joined the Open Mats in Mechelen too. We had a great weekend together. Matwix is a nice guy on and off the mats. He is a fast, agile, flexible grappler. For me it was difficult to control his speed but it was absolute fun to wrestle with him. I really hope to meet Matwix again soon!

I must admit: I was a little bit nervous. Ryan-Savage looks like a beast. His stats are impressive and he has great recommendations. And what would you think reading his nickname? Fortunately I had a chance to get to know him better during dinner before the Open Mats. Ryan-Savage is a very nice guy, a gentle giant, an enthusiast about grappling. On the mats he doesn't misuse the difference in weight and our rolls were intens, long, sane & safe. I have great respect for his firm determination to start competing!

I can recommend Ryan-Savage without any reservations.
